Newsletter - May, 2005

In celebration of Creek Week, the monthly trailworkers for Friends of Ridley Creek State Park will focus their efforts on the creeks surrounding the Park on Saturday, May 7th . Workers should meet at the Park Office back door at 9am, rain or shine, and work until noon. Afterwards, the Chester Ridley Creek Watersheds Association will host its annual picnic at Rose Tree Park in honor of the volunteers who help clean the creeks. Wear long pants and work boots, bring water and work gloves if you have them (if not, they will be supplied) and insect repellent containing 18-30% Deet. This is a great activity for family, friends and kids alike; it's amazing what you can find along the creek beds! If you participated in the Great Pennsylvania Cleanup, you know what fun it is! Please pre-register with Howard Sherman 610-626-0651 or howardshermann@att.net. Minors (under 18) must either be accompanied by, or have official waivers signed by their parent/guardian.

In addition, The Friends of Ridley Creek State Park are currently looking for volunteers to help with our Holiday Open House Tour (call 610-565-3877) and Photo Contest (call 610-876-4470). Other volunteer opportunities are listed on our website at www.friendsofrcsp.org.

If you are interested in other volunteer activities, or just learning more about the Friends, please feel free to attend a monthly "business" meeting.

The next meeting is scheduled for 7pm, May 10th at Hunting Hill Mansion.
